ABOUT THE FOUNDER & THE BRAND

The Thespis Founder, Madison Darnell, started acting at the age of 5. Her grandmother worked in the box office at her local theater and snuck her into the children's programs early because of her passion for performing. She attended The Osceola County School for the Arts for high school, where she majored in Performing Arts. She later worked as the Supervisor for the children's programs at the same local theater where she had been in over 30 productions. Although, Madison had a deep passion for performing, she did not pursue it as a career in college. She currently is about to graduate from Savannah College of Art ad Design with a B.F.A in Fashion Marketing and Management. With her time there she found an interest in the beauty industry and decided to merge her two loves of theatre and beauty.

When she was actively involved in theatre, she loved the pre-show rituals. She loved bringing on her huge makeup bag and dumping everything in front of her mirror. She loved blasting show tunes with her cast mates to warm up. Since she started acting at a young age, where she wasn't allowed to wear makeup outside of performances, she didn't have a lot of knowledge of makeup. Her mission with Thespis is to educate new and seasoned actors on stage makeup and create a line with an all-in-one kit dedicated to musical theatre lovers. Thespis hopes not only to provide makeup services, but to create a community of actors to share tips and gather online.

The name Thespis comes from Ancient Greece, in which he is believed to be by many, such as Aristotle, the first person ever to appear on stage as an actor portraying a character. We honor Thespis for being the first of our kind and paving the way for actors today.
